Warmer Roof in Redhill, Bournemouth
From installing all-new energy-efficient windows to fitting composite front doors and back doors and even building a stylish side porch, we’ve helped enhance the comfort and appearance of her property step by step.
However, one recurring topic always came up during our visits: her conservatory.
Like many homeowners in Bournemouth, she found her old conservatory to be too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter, and simply not usable year-round. It featured outdated ‘C’ rated glazing, a noisy and inefficient polycarbonate roof, and dated internal finishes. Our customer’s brief was clear: she wanted a space she could use comfortably 365 days a year, at any time of day. That’s a request we’re hearing more and more, with solid conservatory roofs now accounting for around 75% of all conservatory installations we carry out in Bournemouth and the surrounding areas.
A Survey-Led, Energy-Efficient Approach
We began by conducting a detailed survey of the home in Bournemouth, checking the base and brickwork for signs of movement or structural issues. Everything checked out, which allowed us to proceed with confidence and design a solution tailored to her needs.
We proposed the following upgrades:
– New thermally efficient uPVC windows with a redesigned layout to maximise glass and natural light
– A solid, tile-effect warm conservatory roof system, which is fully insulated and compliant with current Building Regulations. This type of roof is closer to traditional house construction than a conservatory roof, resulting in a longer and more reliable lifespan.
– Integrated roof vents to maintain airflow and preserve brightness in the room.
– Energy-efficient LED downlights in the new insulated ceiling.
– Full internal plastering of walls and ceiling, transforming the conservatory into a true extension of the home.
Replacement of the old patio doors with high-quality aluminium bifold doors, which provide flexibility to close the space off or create a seamless flow from the dining room.
A Seamless Installation Process in Bournemouth
Our customer placed her order just before Christmas, and we began work in February. We first ensured all electrics were made safe, then removed the old conservatory. The new solid roof structure was made weather-tight in just a few days, and the full transformation – including plastering and electrics – was completed within a fortnight.
As always, we followed up with our customer to ensure she was completely satisfied with the results. She was thrilled with her brand-new, year-round living space – a far cry from the draughty, unusable conservatory she once had.
We’ve arranged to revisit once her decorating is complete to take photos and showcase the stunning outcome.
